And at the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling.

Adventure Days
We are committed to the belief that adventuring in nature is a formative and enriching experience for children. We adventure in all safe weather (yes, even rain, snow, and wind!) Children are offered opportunities to learn and explore as independently as possible, while providing guidance when appropriate. We emphasize the importance of safety and effective risk management, teaching children how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. While we do include activities that are considered by some to be higher risk than usual, we believe that these activities also have significant emotional, social, and developmental benefits for students, and that the benefits outweigh the risks. Years of experience have taught us that the best way to keep children safe is to teach them how to do hard things, safely. Kids love to play with sticks and stones. They love to climb trees (so high!), build forts, use real tools, ropes, and whittle with knives. They love to cook over fires, touch bugs, and taste things growing in nature. We have spent time figuring out how to teach them to do all of these things, safely. The staff give lessons on the proper way to stay safe doing all of these things, before the children may try them. Even climbing trees! We teach them how to safely move their body near fires, the right way to walk holding a knife (in a sheath), how to safely whittle, and the list goes on. While we believe that we are meant to do hard things, and take some risks in life, we won’t take any with your children that we would not take with our own. Our goal is to spark a lifelong love of learning and joy through these adventures! Once a child has the opportunity to see all of the challenging things they conquer out on adventures, they begin to recognize that they are just as strong and brave in classroom. It translates into the ability to recognize that they can do hard things, academically, too.
Weekly Schedule
Adventure days are a great addition for homeschooling families who seek community and enriching outdoor opportunities. Each age group (4-7, 6-12, 11-14) has their own adventure day each week. The 11-14 age group alternates adventuring into nature with service learning days.
